Mini Meet Christmas Pary

We had our annual Christmas Party last night and as usual it was a blast...  I just have to show you what I got in the Santa Swap.   Too cool....  I just love this woman's work and I couldn't wait to get home and put it on my Ora's vanity. Focus on the lavender bottles on the tray. (don't forget to click to see bigger).  I cant believe the little lipstick with the jewel cap...  Creativity at its finest.

The hat boxes are done up so very nicely also....

This is the gift I made.  I actually did this for last years party but didnt go cause we had gotten snow and I stayed home.  Actually the table and chairs would have been enough but it needed a background so I found the background in my Print Shop which wont go on this puter and I miss it so perhaps Santa will bring me a new one this year, lol....  Mizzy loved her gift, I am so glad!!!

Till next time. Hugs! LJ

PS...  Did you know when clicking and looking at the photos if you hit the shift key, control key and the + key at the same time you can increase the size of the photos many times their actual size!!!

Cake Server

Today I am going to show you how I make a cake server.  Unfortunately I dont have decals for Christmas but you can go find some at your local Walmarts  if you want a Christmas Cake Server.  This is what I had on hand so here goes.  You will need to find yourself some jewelry bails.

Now you are going to bend it to look like a cake server. I am sorry my pics are not coming out very well but I think you will get the general idea.

Bend the top under a tad to form a small ring.

Kind of bend it on a slant.  Attach your decal with a tiny bit of stick glue just to hold it in place.

Coat with the fingernail polish and Wah la!!!

Till next time. Hugs from LJ

All Hallows Eve.....

Haunted House
- by Jack Prelutsky

There's a house upon the hilltop
We will not go inside
For that is where the witches live,
Where ghosts and goblins hide.

Tonight they have their party,
All the lights are burning bright,
But oh we will not go inside
The haunted house tonight.

The demons there are whirling
And the spirits swirl about.
They sing their songs to Halloween.
"Come join the fun," they shout.

Kitchen Pieces Finished, YAY!!!

Here is a picture of the final piece to the kitchen which is the work center.

Now I shall put it away until I get to make the John Craig house. But I need to get cracking on the Art Studio.  I dont have a long time to go before Sam graduates and I sure would like to have it done for then.

Lower Counter, etc for Name Kitchen

Ok,  worked on the Name Kitchen yesterday and today with the QS connection group on line.  I read all the instructions on how to put a lite over the sink and read how the group did it as they went along and I am hoping I will retain that info when I make my house for this kitchen to go into.  I have decided it will go into the John Craig house. I am hoping all the cute wallpaper and rugs and window etc will also go into the room in this house.

Rug, door and window

Yesterday and todays accomplishments were the lower cabinet, fridge, range hood and the upper cabinet.

Tryed but could not get this photo to turn the right way...
I put a dime there so you can judge the scale.

Next is the work center and it will be done and I can go back to the fun stuff for Sams art studio.

Til next time, Hugs, LJ

I am following along with Quarter Scale Connection to do the Name Day kitchen and work center in 1/4 scale.  In tomorrow's pictures I will think to put a penny next to the items so you can get a better idea how small this is to work on.  This is kind of neat to do it on the puter.  I ordered the kit a few months back and tonight they had the first on line meeting to put together the room box and the oven. This is the first time I have done this and I must admit I was a bit skeptical but it went just fine.  I got into the site with no probs and you can keep up with the instructor. I previously downloaded all the instructions so I could look at those pages as I followed along.   In the end it is supposed to look like this:

Here is a picture of my room box

And my oven.  There were stickers in the kit for the knobs and handles but I ended up using a straight pin.  Cutting off the heads for the knobs and using the rest of the pin for handles.

I am putting together the room box but I am not using it for this project so you wont see the wall paper etc in this box. I am putting it away for another project because I am putting this kitchen into one of my other 1/4 scale houses I will be doing, not sure which one yet. There is another class tomorrow and I will post what else we do.

Thorne Rooms

Most of us in miniature have heard of the Thorne Rooms.  For those of you who haven't here is some information on them.  And those of us who know of them, please enjoy again...

The 68 Thorne Miniature Rooms enable one to glimpse elements of European interiors from the late 13th century to the 1930s and American furnishings from the 17th century to the 1930s. Painstakingly constructed on a scale of one inch to one foot, these fascinating models were conceived by Mrs. James Ward Thorne of Chicago and constructed between 1932 and 1940 by master craftsmen according to her specifications.

Please watch this fascinating video and be amazed at the detail and wonder of it all...

SD Card is Back!!!

Here are a couple of things I picked up the other day at a yard sale.

I love this little crocheted hat.  I am going to starch it so it is stiffer and hang it on the post of the bed in my brownstone house.  My friends mom crocheted this years ago.

This is something I also bought from my friend.  I think I will put this outside my house with flowers in it as it is a wee bit big for 1" scale.

I finally found the chairs I have been looking for.  I have to sand these down and paint white as the DR table in my house is white.  These chairs were hand crafted by a gentleman who is indeed a craftman.  No motorized tools were used on these chairs and look how perfect they are.
And if you look real close you will see the cool tub that will someday go into my house of illrepute.  Isnt that a hoot!!!  I love the radio also.  Too big for my Sears house but I will find a place, lol...

Mini Meet

Last night was a mini meet, YAY....  I havent been to one in 2 months....  It was so much fun catching up with wonderful people.  We are putting together a room box.  It can be either a shed, store front, or a porch.  It isn't very big and you have seen mine which I did way back in Feb. or March.  Anyway 2 of us that went to the class are teaching the kits to the club.  Thank God for Vicki cause my memory isnt like it used to be, lol....  Ideas were floating back and forth and I cant wait to see these room boxes done as they all will be different.  Of course my shed is on my camera card which I cant put into the sd slot on the puter and is waiting to be fixed on next time I will post it.  Til next time, hugs to all, LJ

New Followers and Probs with Puter

Hi and thank you for becoming followers to my blog.  I will be off as I cant post pictures to my lap top and my new desktop I bought in May has blown the mother board.  So once repaired I will be back to blogging.  It is an HP and I will keep you all posted on how well it is repaired.  This was a model # p6716f-b.  Just letting you know that a mother board should last longer than 4 months so dont buy this model I am thinking it is a BIG YELLOW LEMON.....  Also some of my information to my bloggers are on the new puter and not this one so I wont be able to keep in touch with some of you.  Hoping to blog soon.  LJ

New Rug

Working on a new rug.  This is tricky because the mat is so flexible and the thread is sooooo fine...  It is screening you use for your screen door.  The thread I am using on this is not DMC yarn that I used on the pink rug, but embroidery thread you would use in your sewing machine.  I thought I would give it a try as I love the sheen and the colors. We will see what we will see!!!

Take care, hugs, LJ

What does a fire hydrant and cute resin dolls have in common?

I got them all in Wells...  I bought these cute little dolls when on vaca at a gift store on the dollar table. Yes, only a buck each...  I will have to come up with a theme for a miniature to build around them cause they are 6" high and maybe a tad too tall for scale but they are too cute to not use them in something.  Any Ideas???

Because I had 2 of the same one, the one with the letter in her hand, I gave one to Jeanne Girl when she visited.  I knew she was bringing me the hydrant cause she asked what color I wanted.
Isn't it so cute!!!

In one of my previous posts I showed you the mermaid sign I made and when I get done with my Art Studio I am making for my granddaughter I will make an antique shop and I wanted the hydrant blue to match the mermaid.  As it will sit outside my shop....

Till next time, Be Happy, LJ

I made this little sink for a project I have in mind.  Havent really ironed out the details yet but here is the sink.  BFF Jeannie sent this kit to me and it  really wasn't as hard to  put together as I envisioned.  The wood is very fragile to work with so I pictured myself destroying this.  It is pretty rustic but that was the look I wanted.

A New Mini Project For A Future Endeavor...

First let me welcome some of my latest followers.  Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful hobby with me. I so enjoy visiting you also to see what you have been up to.  See you soon....

I couldn't make it to the last mini meet because I was busy healing but my wonderful friend sent me the kit that she put together for our club  and I love it.  I finished her this morning.

She got the idea from the original Mermaid Weather vane that is now located in the Shelburne Museum in MA.  The original location was atop a barn in Wayland MA.  She is so cool...
Don't forget to click to enlarge!

Here is my Antiques Mermaid Sign

She wont stay in front of the Toy Store but will reside hanging from her own Antique shop.  Golly my projects are starting to mount up on me, lol...

Pics of Mini's and a New Mini Project.

Hi All, yes I know it has been a while since posting to my mini spot.  Too many things going on right now. But here are some neat pics of what is happening at the Dollhouse Club.

Take a look at the ponds we did:  Don't forget to click to make larger!!!

Aren't they cool...  Same concept, but all a bit different.

Next we have the NAME Workshop we did with a  shed/store front kit. Talk about different!!!  Same kit but look what was done with them...  All the accessories are our own.

Cool Western Theme

I love this store front...

Patriot Look

That's what I love about mini's we can make it our own!!!

There will be more of these to show in the future.

Last night we worked on making rugs.  We took some open weave interlock needlepoint canvas,  cut to 3 1/4" X  2".  (this is a twisted thread single weave which is a bit more rigid than most)    13 holes to an inch is what we used. I know there is a size this is called, but not sure what it is, you should be able to find it at your local embroidery/yarn shop or go on line.  A very small embroidery needle and DMC embroidery thread, I elected to use 4 colors but you can use 5.  Have a sharp pair of small scissors available.

Take a piece of DMC and measure it so it hangs off the sides of the canvas. About 6 inches.

Then measure it end over end 6 times -  it should measure about 36".  Remember this is for this size canvas, but you can do the same for any size canvas.  Of course the length will vary.

Then you use one strand of this 6 strand thread and thread your needle

You will go down the first hole and up the second hole, skip a hole, and down the next and up the next all the way across to establish your pattern.  You will do this 6 times in one row.

When done you will trim around your canvas to get rid of the little nubbies sticking out.  You trim close to the edge being careful not to cut into the long end holding your stitches in place.

This is what I have done so far

I should have it done by my next post so you can see the finished product.

Love to all and Happy Mini-ing. LJ
