Bench is Fini...

YAY!!!  DONE

DONT FORGET TO CLICK TO MAKE BIGGER!

I USED A MINWAX STAIN STICK TO COVER EVERYTHING

WHEN DRY I POLY'D IT

NOT BAD FOR THE FIRST ATTEMPT.  NEXT I AM GOING TO MAKE A SMALLER SIZE FOR A PIANO BENCH.  AS THERE IS SPACE UNDER THE CUSHION, GREAT FOR SHEET MUSIC.

TILL NEXT TIME,  L J

LEGS

Here are the legs for my bench

The top part will be cut off. That was there to hold the legs as you worked on them.  I wish I had had the presence of mind to create a jig to have kept my lines straighter, but there will be a next time. These are all crafted by my two little hands with a file and sand paper.  This was a great learning experience and with practice I hope to get better and better as time goes on because I found it fun and want to do more, more I say.  I am thinking, tables, chairs, beds, stools,  OH MY!!!

Til next time, L J

Next week you will see how the bench will go together.

Mini Meet

OK,  last nite the weather allowed us to meet.  We are making a cushioned bench.  One person in our group isnt going to put in the cushion.  She is going to use the bench as a plant stand instead.  I thought that was a nifty idea.    The legs will be hand carved.  We have a wood carver in our midst and she does remarkable work and she designed a bench for us.     Look Ma no lathe!!!   All legs are all supposed to look identical... HA!!!  I will keep you posted as to how I do, lol...  Wish me luck, I am going to need it...
