Mini Exchange

I have never done this before but I am going to give it a try.  If you are a member of NAME you get the Miniature Gazette.  In the Jan-Feb issue on page 16 there is a mini exchange that will be done in March.  The object is to make 21 of the same item (say 21 cook books) that would go into a Hope Chest for a bride.    You will get back 20 pieces, all different that a bride would have in her hope chest.  Sounds like fun!!!  Especially when you get the items back to open, ya???  They will let you do another 21 pieces different item (say 21 hand towels).  I am going to try to do that also.  Hey, I have til March, right?

Here is what I am making:

So far so good!!!

This didnt look like a lot so besides the Joy Cookbook I added the My Favorite Recipes book to go in the same batch.

Now to figure out my next 21 items.

Till next time. Mini Hugs. LJ

A Great Find

In my travels to Antique stores this is what I found.

Look closely to see the dime in the 4th chair from the left.  I would say I can get away with using these as 1/2" scale.

They are actually place card holders. See the little grove at the back of the chair...

I fell in love with these and just had to have them, lol...

Till next time.  Hugs, LJ

No Work Done As Yet!!!

GrandD's art studio is on hold til I get the cape finished.  I find I am reading books more than I should be sitting on my keister...  But,  you know when it gets so dang cold out there I tend to hibernate like a bear.... And when I hibernate I like to cozy up in my recliner with my blankie and a good book!!!  Notice I said book...  Not a kindle, lol...  I like books. I like to turn those darn pages....  Kindles are not cozy...  But for you electronically buzzed people out there   "go for it"....  To each his own....  Let's see if I can explain.  It is like setting the table with candle light.  Would you use electric candles to set that mood, I dont think so....  The other reason is that Badger has taken up residence on my craft table.  He used to sleep on my hubbies workbench but lately he is always on the craft table.  Of course I set up a blanket for him when I saw he was sleeping on the grooming pad I use for Ragsy.  Ah Winter....  I need to start walking with my neighbor again to get off this holiday weight gain and get my keister in gear....

Ahhhh, but who can move such a cutie.  Doesnt he look comfortable....

Till next time, Hugs....  LJ

2012 A New Project

I hope you all had grand memories to add to your Holiday scrapebooks.  I am off and running with projects...  Oh my I hope I am not going to stress myself out here, lol...  My granddaughter graduates from art school this May. She promised me she wouldnt be checking this out as she wants to be surprised. She does know it has to do with art as she saw the sink  I had laying out and she said  HMMM... "What is this for?"...    She plans on teaching art at either elementary or high school level.  She does plan on going for her Masters of which she is applying now to various schools so she will have a lot more options open to her.  Hopefully I am giving myself plenty of time to work on this project.  I have two going right now, lol....  I am sewing her a cape over at the cozy site and over here I am making her a Artist cottage.  Here is the kit I will be bashing to make into her own Artist domain.

This kit is from Greenleaf and is called Sugarplum house...
The back of Sugarplum House.

This young lady is called Carly and comes from Hobby Builders Supply.  If I dont get a chance to make a doll for the cottage standing in front of an easel this young lady will be sitting on the bed to add a little pizzazz to the scene.

I am thinking perhaps a skylight window with the artist studio on the 2nd floor.  Also maybe a spiral staircase to the upper level.  Now then!  Do I create living space below or do I make a shop where she can sell supplies and perhaps have an area where she can teach.  Or should this be living quarters,  Oh decisions, decisions....

Anyway, please follow along this journey with me and we will see what comes about together!!!

Wishing us all a grand 2012!!!
