Off To A Miniature Show

Today friends and I went to a Miniature Show.   I haven't been in a couple of years so of course I overspent.  My logic is " Half of what I spent I would have spent last year if I had gone, and the other half is what I would spend this year"....  Right?  Right!!!  Well, it makes perfect sense to me!!!

Here are the items purchased:

The cute little tea cozy a lady from New Zealand made.  I will never be able to knit this tiny or this good....

The chicken pot pie looks yummy!

The picture below is quarter scale for that dang house I have yet to make...  If this keeps up perhaps I will have all the rooms furnished when I finally put it together.

Also I wanted to show you the brass bed I bought a few weeks ago.  The kids gave me a gift certificate a while back that I hadn't spent yet and this is what I finally bought.  I have always wanted one in real life and isn't that the joy of miniatures.  You can always have what you want...  The bed cover and pillow I made a few years ago.

Here is a tray with lemonade I made a few weeks ago at the mini meet.

Well that's all folks...  Talk to you soon.  LJ

Little Doll

We have a new member in our mini club and she is so very talented.  She also has a blog which is  I just noticed she hasn't been there in a while but she has children and is a very busy lady.  No matter -  what she has on there will keep you busy for a long time researching her fabulous site.   I found her blogging and was excited to learn she lived near our club and she has graciously decided to join us.  I made my little doll per one of  her tutes.  I am new to Picasa so I really don't know how to turn this little lady around so please forgive...
She is in her undies which is tricky to knit.  I will be knitting her a dress to cover up those dreadful arms, lol....

Happy November!!!

Hi Folks, I can't upload PICS to this site anymore. Since Internet 10 automatically uploaded itself to me (I think it has to do with the fact I have an older computer) I have had troubles with just about everything. This happened before and I did a go back situation as you may remember and that took care of it for a while but it just delayed the inevitable. So until this either fixes itself or what ever I will write to you but no pics.... Sorry.... I love you all and want to add pics to my daily life episodes, but I cant.... I don't want to leave you guys so I will write what is happening in my life but no photos.... Sorry.....

Miniature Gazette

WOW!!!   I sent in a pic of the "Parlor By The Sea" to the NAME Miniature Gazette...   I did this at Christmas time for my daughter in law's niece and they published it...  Wow... Thank you Gazette...   It houses miniature paintings that my granddaughter did for her painting classes. Also the sofa and chair were club projects from a wonderful club member....  I totally love this roombox!!! It is one of my most favorite projects...

Little Penguin

At our last mini meet we were to make a toy.  A penguin on wheels that had feet that moved -  flip - flop, flip - flop....  Tiny pieces of balloon would be on the bottom of the wheels...  This was way too tiny for me to do.... So here is the penguin with balloon feet, no wheels, lol....

Below would be the stick for a kid to hold onto to push the penguin around.

My penguin,  without the stick,  is going into my toy shop as a doll...

Seed Carrier

I made  the seed carrier the other day.    I used wood and cut it with the jewelers saw though instead of matboard which the instructions called for.  I  burnt seeds into the side with my burning tool.

Unfortunately I didnt write down the web site where I got this from so I cant direct you to it. I can give you the dimensions however and you probably could find the seed packet printies anyway on the web.  So if you would like the directions please say so in your comments and I will print them next post.

Till next time, LJ

Cute Little Doll

I bought this a while back. It only cost me $10 so even though she is cute as the dickens and her outfit fits right into the victorian theme of my house I am going to tear off the clothes and put the knitted dress and pinefore I knit on her.  It may be a tad big but I think it will look ok.  If not then if I am careful I should be able to reconstruct this outfit on her.

Till next time. Mini Hugs, LJ

Bit By The Mini Knitting Bug

Here is a knit dress with a scalloped pinafore and mop hat....
I haven't put the buttons on yet as I have to  find a needle small enough to go through the tiny holes.  My friend gave me these teeny tiny buttons... They are too cute for words...  I just couldnt wait to look for the needle, I had to show you the outfit, lol...  They are so adorable....

I am bit by the Mini Knitting Bug...  I am looking through patterns to knit something else.
I can't help myself, lol....

Mini Meet

Last night Barbara came up with such a neat lamp.  It was so much fun and we were almost at 100% membership which was even more fun having us all together.  Barbara makes the most beautiful chandeliers out of jewelry findings and this lamp she designed for the club. She came armed with tons of findings for us to pick from for our lamps. I will try to have pics next meeting of the other lamps as we ran late and the others were not done as yet, so hopefully they will bring to share their finished products.  We used zap a gap and white glue to get a good grip on these metal parts. Believe me they won't come undone....    Here is mine:

I love how it fits in my Victorian house....

These are Barbara's lamps...
I love the bugle beads at the base of the lamp shades, but I wasn't going there - lol... They are suppose to dangle so you don't glue them on and they keep falling off every time you move the lamp.  You could glue them but that would ruin the effect so I elected not to put them on.

A very nice colonial lamp.

Little Tree

I took a picture to send to the mini person who sold me all the mini knitting supplies to let her know that I am thoughoughly enjoying my newest pastime and these supplies wont sit around. I will use them....
I did try a tree Christmas Stocking

This is the most tedious mini thing I have ever attempted but I will get it to where I want.  Smaller and neater....

While browsing thru some patterns I came across this pattern and thought "Oh,  why not try it"  I will leave the dress back till tomorrow.   After several tries to do the Faire Isle knit sock (which you can kind of see beneath the thread in the picture below)..... I said "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH".....  Guess I had better practice on a plain one first.....  This is not easy!!!  For me anyway.......  This will take a lot of practice to do a FairIsle, little tree or the zigzag pattern in the directions.   But even the plain one  is cute as cute can be........

The stocking is knit flat, not in the round.  Those red stitches on each end is the heal when stitched up.

OH MY GOODNESS............

I don't care how long it took me, it was worth it, lol..........

New Followers and Newest Knit

A wonderful warm welcome to all my newest followers.  I am trying to get back to all new and old for visits.  I love going to your great blogs and seeing what you have created for the little world we all so enjoy.

Here is my next attempt to knit. This is going to take a while to finish.  This will be for a teen dollhouse doll.  I am not going to show the pic of what the finished product will finally look like.  I want to string you along....  Get it, string, along...

Pram Cover

I am on a roll.  I just love knitting these little things.  This is a pram blanket that I devised myself.  It may be a little early yet to do this but I wanted to try it without a pattern.  Fun Fun Fun...This needs to be blocked yet.

Off to look at patterns, lol....

Baby gets a new outfit for Easter

Happy Easter to all you bloggers in blogland.  I hope you and your families have a Holy, Joyful Day!

I finished the outfit.  After many tedious attempts  I am going to show it even though it is a little ragged around the edges. I am hoping you will see improvement over time.  I hope, lol...

It is very difficult to keep my stitches even on such small needles using such fine thread. I am sure it will come with practice. The hard part is the edges while knitting. Either I hold them too tight or too loose as I am afraid of losing them off the needle. (ha, that happened a lot and it is hard to pick them up).  I didn't have much problem with life size knitting.  It came to me like a duck takes to water. I will persevere.....
It looks better on the doll on the back side.
Here you can tell it is a wee bit big on the pants. Easy to take care of this as I will run a thread around the waist and tighten it up a bit.
Thank you to Christine of Holly Hock Cottage for explaining to me what a "yfwrd"  meant....

Knitting Bonanza

I fell into a bonanza!!!  A lovely lady sent me an email and asked if I was interested in buying her stash of yarn goods.  Hubby and I went to see her and her collection.  I just couldn't resist.  I bought a lot of yarn most 100% cotton but quite a bit of silk and wool in the mix. It is all good for mini knitting... There is also some patterns, some kits and some knitting supplies in there also.  I won't live long enough to use it all up, but she didn't want to sell it piece meal.  It was all or nothing. I know I didn't pay enough for her very organized collection, but she was kind enough and let me have it for a very modest price.  Thank you so much lovely mini lady.  Hubby and I enjoyed our visit with her and her husband and we will be seeing them again soon I hope.  We saw her fantastic dollhouse and all kinds of wonderful mini things.

Last night when I got home I tried my hand at real mini knitting. I thought that red sweater I made a couple weeks ago was hard....  O E Vay...  I picked a really easy pattern out of one of her books and got the top half-way done when I dropped a stitch.  Almost got it picked up when 5 stitches came out and that was that, lol.  I could not see them well enough to pick them up, even with very good magnification.  Will start again later today once I get some errands done.  The pattern asked for silk thread - one strand.  Tried to separate the strands with no luck at all….  Kept fraying on me, must be a trick to it…. I will keep that thread  for a lacy pattern not having to separate the strands. I picked a tatting thread instead, that didn’t go too badly until I lost that dang stitch….  I will have to ask her about separating silk strands, it is probably just patience I am sure, of which I have none.....   I will also have to ask how to do a  "yfrwd" in some of the  directions I read as I have never come across that term in regular knitting.

Last nights attempt:

Pattern I selected...

Tatting thread I picked.  Doll that little outfit will go on. Needles to knit on...

Attempt on left with silk double thread turned out to be too wide for doll. There is no gauge with this pattern only pictures so I am thinking the picture is the size I should be knitting. Mine turned out just a smidgen over the picture but I held it up to the doll and it will be ok.
Piece on right will fit but lost the stitches on.

Rome wasn't built in a day, lol....

A few weeks ago I won a Give A Way that Little Rabbit Miniatures  (place your little hand on top on these names to go to their site, for some reason they are not underlined.) was holding in order to name her cute little kitten.    Actually  Indy_Poppy of Tails Of Adventure  won with the name of "Whiskers".  Michelle was gracious enough to give  lina of linchens little cottage and myself a gift also for being the first to respond to her give a way.  I had been waiting for the gift to come as Michelle had put a picture of it on her blog and I couldn't wait for it to get here.  It is just beautiful!!!  Delivery was so quick coming all the way from the UK...  What a fantastic job is done with these lovely flowers.  The color looks better in person than my photos, take a look.....

I love the pot the hydrangeas are in.....  Thank you so much Michelle, the workmanship is so realistic.  I will be checking out your Etsy shop for sure.
